About the project

La Permanence is a coworking network with three locations across Paris — Moulin, Alésia, and Marcadet — giving professionals flexible, 24/7 access to workspaces through hourly passes or monthly subscriptions. Beyond desk space, the platform also connects users to meeting rooms, lockers, printing, and business domiciliation services.

We partnered with La Permanence to redesign the entire platform — from branding and visual identity to the booking experience — replacing an outdated, hard-to-navigate site with a clear, modern platform. Users can now see live seat availability across all three locations, understand pricing at a glance, and book a space in just a few guided steps, with a dedicated flow for students and a Personal Space where they can manage passes, services, and invites in one place. The result is a platform where every step — from choosing a pass to inviting a guest — was rethought to remove friction and confusion.

Problem

La Permanence needed to give professionals in Paris a clear, welcoming way to discover, understand, and book coworking space—without the confusion of an outdated, hard-to-navigate platform.

Before the redesign, users faced significant challenges:

  • Unclear brand identity.

A dated color palette, an unclear logo, and hard-to-read typography made it difficult for visitors to immediately recognize the site as a modern coworking space.
  • Confusing pricing and a complicated purchase flow.

Understanding what each pass included and comparing formulas was harder than it needed to be, adding friction before a user could even start using the space.
  • An unclear, overloaded personal space.

Once a purchase was made, users landed in an account area that packed too much together—pass details, payment information, credits, and invoices all competed for attention on the same crowded screen.

Our process

We partnered with La Permanence to redesign the entire platform for coworking professionals across Paris, following our proven Product Ladder model.

STEP 01

Product foundation: built a stable, scalable platform

We started with a full rebrand — a new logo, color palette, and design system — then rebuilt the booking experience from the ground up, replacing the outdated, hard-to-navigate flow with a clear, modern one. This gave La Permanence a strong visual and structural foundation to build every other improvement on top of.

STEP 02

Dedicated product team: continuous ownership without context switching

Our team has been embedded with La Permanence since 2025, with the same product manager, designer, and engineers continuing the work as new priorities come up. This ongoing setup means every improvement builds on a shared understanding of the platform and its users, without the ramp-up time that comes with rotating teams.

What we built

01

Website redesign

We designed a new logo, color palette, and design system for La Permanence, then rebuilt the site around it, replacing the old, cluttered layout with a clear, modern one that makes it obvious what La Permanence offers and how to get started. The new pricing page groups every formula clearly by type — hourly access or subscription — making it easy to compare options and see exactly what's included before choosing a plan.

02

Personal Space redesign

We redesigned the Personal Space to make everyday actions faster and more intuitive. Finding pass details and extending or upgrading a plan now takes a few clicks instead of digging through a cluttered screen, with clear calls to action tailored to whether a user has an hourly pass or a subscription. Booking a meeting room, renting a locker, setting up a business address, or inviting a guest all became clear, accessible actions rather than buried options scattered across the interface. Payment and billing information — methods, credits, and invoices — was also restructured into a clean, intuitive layout, giving users a clear picture of their account at a glance instead of having everything compete for attention on one crowded screen.

03

Backend & infrastructure

The platform was migrated from legacy infrastructure built on OVH to AWS. It reduced the amount of DevOps work required before without increasing monthly operations costs.
New APIs were built for the new personal space React app. The team highly reused current logic to minimize the chances of introducing issues.

Results

La Permanence now has a clear, modern platform that reflects the quality of the coworking spaces it represents.

The new brand identity gives the platform a consistent, professional look across every page. In the Personal Space, finding pass details, managing a plan, booking a meeting room, or inviting a guest are now fast, intuitive actions — everything a user needs is easy to find and simple to act on. Pricing is just as clear: hourly and subscription options can be compared at a glance, so choosing the right plan takes seconds, not guesswork. As an ongoing partnership, the same team continues to build on this foundation as new priorities come up.

“Base Blocks has been a key partner for us over the last two years. They took over our entire stack without a proper handover from the previous team, and made it work. They are extremely responsive: whenever an issue comes up, we know it will be picked up quickly. What sets them apart is their smart, solution-oriented approach: they move fast when we need them to, but never lose sight of the long-term manageability of the product. I'd recommend them without hesitation.”

Our approach

Redesigning La Permanence meant rethinking the platform end to end — branding, pricing, booking, and account management — while keeping the coworking experience itself simple and welcoming. Our team has stayed embedded with La Permanence since 2025, with the same product manager, designer, and engineers continuing the work as new priorities come up.

Given the platform's focus on clarity and ease of use for busy professionals, we built the site on Webflow, keeping the design system consistent and easy to maintain across every page.
